Vagus nerve or GI issues and autism? Any information? Background: I've recently had to be put on a feeding tube which has caused severe sensory sensitivities for me. I've had severe pain whenever I eat or drink. Coincidentally, the pain got worse when the sensory sensitivities got worse and when I started experiencing hightened autism signs (less ability to mask so to speak). Doctors have pretty much said they have no idea what is happening and I'm doing all the research. I have a few theories right now (vagus nerve issues, MALS, gastroparesis, mesenteric artery disease, and DGBI or disorders of gut brain interaction). My strongest one is the vagus nerve issues. I've heard autism makes vagus nerve issues more common. What are the things that could help? I've heard of chiropractic adjustments helping as well as vasovagal therapy. Has anyone tried it to help with autism symptoms or other symptoms? I've heard vagus nerve issues can also cause more severe autism signs/symptoms. I've also heard DGBI (disorders of gut brain interaction) is more common with autism. Any information on this? I'm literally open to any and all information. We are trying any and all treatment the doctors are willing to do. We are doing all the research and going to the doctors.
