Autism prevented home fire? Pretty sure my partners autism just prevented a home fire. I put our winter blanket in the dryer for a final clean before it gets put away for summer storage. Unfortunately I forgot to add the dryer ball, or any anti static sheets prior to adding it to the dryer. The lint trap was cleaned out, but we all know how much additional lint can come from a single winter blanket in a home with 2 cats. The dryer is doing it's thing, and I'm off to do dishes and stuff. Partner comes up asking me what that odd noise is. I don't hear anything. Partner insists there is a weird sound, and it needs to be discovered right away. I've learned it's easier just to stop what I'm doing, and solve the mystery. Good thing I did because that sounds was the static electricity building up, and creating a mini lightning storm in the dryer! The lint trap was now completely full, and I'm wondering how much time we had before the dryer became an inferno. Thankfully my partner is autistic, and can pick up on the sound of static electricity BEFORE our bathroom suddenly had a new fireplace.
