Hi everyone, I appreciate reading your experiences. They are very educational for me as an educator. I currently teach a self contained life skills class for middle school students in grades 6-8. I have been in public education since 2000 and special education since 2019. My best friend is also a special education coordinator at the high school. We often have discussions about transitions from middle to high school and to adulthood. We deal with students who are on track to get a standard diploma and try to help them navigate these most trying years. While we don't have anyone currently diagnosed with asperges, we commonly see signs and tendency towards this behavior. Most of my teaching experience prior to teaching middle school was in the early childhood and primary grade levels. If I can offer any ideas on how you can motivate a young child to get an activity done, please ask. I raised a daughter with sensory processing disorder and ADHD. I myself have ADD. I will be glad to share my story with anyone who asks.
