Speaking of the vagus nerve, I have had problems with vasovagal syncope (where the vagus nerve is overstimulated and it causes the heart rate and blood pressure to suddenly drop and be so low that you have changes in your vision and pass out because not enough blood flow to the brain for it to get enough oxygen. Episodes last no more than a few minutes and are usually not dangerous and lying down and elevating your legs can help), triggered by things like getting blood work done or the sight of needles. This didn't start happening until my late teens.
