Hello, My 7 year-old son has Level 1 ASD. He is used to going to school and having no accommodations since there are no more than 11 students in his class, so he isn’t overstimulated much and does well overall. However, in other settings such as supermarkets, church, etc., he struggles with sensory overload. He doesn’t want to wear earplugs or headphones because he doesn’t want to stand out. I have even suggested for him to chew gum and other things his OT had recommended but he refuses. Any suggestions?
