What do online tests results mean? I'm 59 and just realizing that I strongly fit the profile of a high masking autistic with ADHD. I took several tests and I am way on the high end for: neurodiversity, monotropism, masking and ADHD. I went to the doctor and she agreed and sent me for further tests. However, I can't even get a return call yet from the psychiatrist, so maybe I'll get that eventually or maybe it's really hard to get an appointment (is it?). I would like to be diagnosed if it's reasonable to get it done, but I don't know if it is or how that might benefit or harm me. (When should you tell friends, family or employers, for example--if ever?) My first concern is whether I should accept the online results or be skeptical of them, and if I should act on them in some way or not. Of course, I've been watching videos and reading about autism and ADHD, but I have a fear that learning too much prior to diagnosis might skew the results (?). When I watch the videos and learn about stuff like pathological demand avoidance, meltdowns or burnout, these all seem to sink my battleship (direct hits). The presenters seem hyper-reasonable to me, and more relatable than the folks I encounter day to day. So, these things do reinforce my conclusions about my (what do you call it, condition?). TLDR, I am 99% convinced I am Audhd, but 1% sure what, if anything, to do about it. Thanks for reading and maybe offering advice. p.s. I did not post my results because I thought it might be taboo, but I could if it is important to see the charts or numbers.
