Some advice needed. My trans daughter is 19. She has not been formally diagnosed with Asperger’s but after reading about it the symptoms here and elsewhere I have no doubt. It didn’t cause any problems in her life (outside of the drama at home) until she was about 16. Tried to get her to go to therapy but she refused. When she was 18 we realized that she should get a neuropsych evaluation which she did but because she was 18 we weren’t allowed to see it and she refused to see the results herself because she said she had “irreconcilable differences with the testing methodology they use”. Academically she doesn’t have issues but socially she does. But she doesn’t see any of her major control and social issues as a problem. I’d love for her to get a diagnosis so she can have some awareness of how she might be processing the world differently, and get some coping mechanisms, but how to get her to see the evaluation or go to therapy if she doesn’t want to? Thanks for any suggestions.
