I just finished the Defiance, Defense Mode & Depression webinar. I would like my 20 yo son to do the Breaking Free course but he does not think it will help. He has read Surviving & thriving with Asperger's. He is a junior in college and is doing pretty well on his own, living in a single dorm room with the dining hall. He does not drive and gets too overwhelmed trying to cook for himself. He melts down several times a week (defense mode) and has learned to walk away when he's overwhelmed (but has still managed to yell at a professor in class before walking out). He is extremely self aware and understands that these challenges may very well prevent him from ever getting or holding a job, let alone living on his own. His dream is to be an aerospace engineer. It breaks my heart seeing him struggle and starting to believe his dream will never come true. I am sure there are parents out there that can relate to this situation and I'm asking, for my son, if anyone with similar functioning has taken the Breaking Free course and found it to really help? I am an optimist and reaching for everything and anything that may help him but of course my son is not so optimistic. He said he can't handle getting his hopes up again only to be let down. Looking for advice. Thanks
