A police call went out today in our neighborhood for an 11 year old boy who left his house in an “autistic rage.” It was reported he had been self harming and had a knife with him. I was worried for his safety and took the car to go search for him. Fortunately he was found quickly. The responding officers were sitting in the grass beside him calmly talking with him - no lights or sirens, Our local police officers had an autism training in the past year given by two counselors who work in the autism department of our local healthcare system. I feel for this little boy and his family. but was thankful to see the calm and gentle way the officers were helping him.
