Hello, I am lookng for guidance. I have a 19 yo son who is the 2nd of 4 kids. He was diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia at age 7. I saw signs of anxiety in elementary school and tried to get him help but he masked really well. He is an overly compliant kid. At 13 I realized I was having to speak to him in short simple sentences and repeat myself multiple times to get him to understand what I was saying. I finally found someone who specialized in kids with high cognitive ability and significant deficits. She told me he wasn't capable of doing school at the time (we were homeschooling). He has now been struggling significantly with mental health, being in freeze (I had absolutely no idea what I was seeing at the time), fogginess etc. We have worked with a number of professionals over the years and had him at a great school who met him where he is. There has always been a question about if he is on the ASD spectrum. If he is he is very high functioning but I suspect he has lived in defense mode for a very long time. He dropped out of school and now works as an assitant at the school he went to (it caters to kids who have anything that interferes with learing including quite a few ASD kids). I am burnt out too at this point. I have no idea how to help him. He is continuously foggy and has difficulty processing information. There are times when it is better and those times are great but those times are rare. Any advice is appreciated. I am going to be limited in my capacity to help him much rn due to the level of burnout I am experiencing (As mentioned he is 1 of 4 and 3 of my kids are dyslexic....we have spent so much on interventions and therapy we could have bought a vacation home)
