Desperately need advice. I have a brother (19 yr) with ASD who just got out of a bad relationship with girlfriend. Was very hyperfixated on her and now very depressed. He stays in his pitch dark room all day and refuses to come out to eat, drink, socialize, or even go to school which he loves. Doesn't talk to anyone or anything and just sleeps and does nothing. All. Day. The girl was horrible. She convinced him that his family doesn't care about him and she's the only one who truly understands him. After a while, my mother helped him break up with her. Once he finally broke up for good, he was happier than ever. She sent a disgusting message to my mother about how horrible she is for doing this. For a while, he was very happy. Going to culinary school, cooking for us, talking a lot, and just being in an all around good mood. Lately he stopped everything. Refusing to get out of his room, refusing to talk, and refusing going to culinary school he once loved. I have ASD too and understand what it's like having a hyperfixation ripped away from you. I wish I can help because I'm the only one in the family who understands him the most but he refuses to talk at all. Any advice to help him out of his depression?
