Positive post: I have had a really hard time with our 19 year old since he turned 15. Screaming, slamming doors, shutting down, what looked a lot like defiance. I now understand it was hormones and overwhelm and a late diagnosis. Now at 19 he thanks us for being understanding, tells us he wants to do better, is opening up, helping out when he can, hugging us and telling us he loves us. There are good days and bad days but more good days now. Even though he has been in burnout and not where I would like him to be in an ideal world and I stay up at night worrying about him, he’s able to handle more and I have to be thankful that we finally have a good relationship.
