I received an official diagnosis today. I’m glad to have the advice to monitor and care for sensory dysregulation. Looking back on my youth, I wonder if it helped to know. For example, would adults around me have been more alert to "friends" who were using me as a cover while they shoplifted, knowing I'd go talk to an adult working in the store? Would I have been able to find dating advice that would have helped me navigate my 20s? I'm lucky that my super awkward and inappropriate initiation of a relationship with the man who became my husband worked out. It's got me thinking about what my kids will really need when they hit that age.
