So I’m trying to use my phone (and electronics in general) as little as possible when I’m doing things like using the toilet, brushing my teeth, etc. so I can give myself space to process my emotions. Was not prepared for the emotional tsunamis I’m basically forcing myself to surf, but I’m finding I’m actually doing better than expected at surfing those waves & holding space for myself. I’m not going into loops where I relentlessly search Google and doom scroll for solutions to my problems, so that’s a huge capacity upgrade, IMO. Even at my worst I was still able to do laundry & shave at a quick pace. Even on my worst days I’m getting better. I still have moments where I freeze, but I’m usually able to get back to normal within a minute.
