I have a 13-year-old son who is having a hard time with his schoolwork. He has a hard time finding motivation to participate in class and do homework. He says that the more his teachers tell him to do his work, the more his brain tells him not to. He likes to play video games and finds that the games are one of the few things that aren't boring to him. We've tried using the games as motivation or taking them away until he does his schoolwork. When his games are taken away, it seems he becomes even more resistant, and it doesn't help him get his schoolwork done. He gets extremely frustrated trying to do homework, especially anything creative or with a lot of writing. His teacher basically told me today that I need to take his games away completely until he starts doing his work . Has this worked for anyone? Any other suggestions or advice?
