A little bit of information: My son is 12 and the school had him evaluated in 3rd grade and again this year for autism. Only has an IEP for behavioral needs (horrible anxiety that ends in meltdowns). Has amazing grades. Also has ADHD and sensory processing disorder. We have found a lot of way to help at home and at school with issues he encounters throughout his day. But I need help understanding one thing in particular. When he gets upset when we ask him to do something he doesn’t want to do he stutters and gets very dramatic with his stutters to the point of exaggeration. How do we know when it’s seriously something he is dealing with and when it’s just a reaction to get out of doing or prolonging the thing he doesn’t want to do.
