My son 8yr old was just diagnosed with ASD social level 1, rigid/repetitive behaviors level 2 through our healthcare provider. The school has been refusing he has anything more than behavioral and emotional issues and fail to see the reason behind his now daily disruptive behaviors. He has Spec Ed two hours a day and almost immediately goes into Defense Mode as soon as he enters the General Ed classroom that has 22 students. Why do we need to fight with the school? He has been dismissed 4x already and he’s getting deeper and deeper into defense mode with school. At what point do we accept that we need to find another school? Can his diagnosis (also anxiety disorder) really operate in such a large classroom?
