So my kid is a sophomore this year. He is struggling with communication between him and his peers. He has an autism diagnosis. He’s high functioning but he doesn’t seem to know when to stop “teasing” the other kids. It’s so challenging for him to understand when they’re teasing, being mean, or being serious. Kids want to be his friend but then he thinks he’s teasing them but he ends up hurting their feelings. He also struggles when another kid tells him to do something he doesn’t think through consequences. He just does it and the kids at his school think it’s funny. They’ve been told to not do it by the principal and teachers. My question is how do we help him. Has anyone had a similar situation? What worked?
