My 19 yo son takes things so literally that it is impacting his part-time job. Basically, following the rules to a fault and getting angry when coworkers don't be as literal. His response to the suggestions that there are situations that require flexibility and not to be so serious and by the book, he tells us , "I have to be serious and always follow the training." It is so difficult to explain that people can have fun at work and joke around, but he said, "It's serious. It's our job!" Looking for ways to approach this with him.
