Hello! My son , who is 14, was recently diagnosed with high functioning autism. I have a couple of questions concerning “official “ testing. His school is hesitant to do an IEP evaluation or a 504 plan because he is doing “okay” in school. They are allowing him to wear headphones which helps with navigating the noisy hallway and lunchroom. We are on a wait list at the closest autism center but have been told it can take up to 18 months to get an appointment. Has anyone else had this situation? Also, has an IEP or a 504 plan helped your child? The school psychologist told me she didn’t believe my son would pass her testing in order to receive special education help.
