Hello my name is Michelle and my son was diagnosed with nonverbal autism at 2. I didn't know anything about Autism before I had him and it has been a learning experience. He started ABA soon after. He started speaking and then stopped. So I suggested sign so he can see his words as he said them and maybe that would help him talk more. The ABA told me not to "confuse" him so I didn't. My son is now 8 and I am having a hard time communicating with him, he has a lot of tantrums and it's hard getting him to calm down long enough to get anything done most days. I am struggling emotionally as I am not sure what to do. He is starting to hit people when he has tantrums and I need some help on ways to calm him down and ways to tell him "no" without the outcome being a tantrum. Is it to late to teach him sign language?
