Hi, I'm new here. I have a husband with level 1 ASD, and 2 kids who have level 2 but only because their demand avoidance is so high. The dr said they would be Aspergers if the diagnosis still existed. I have seen many kids recently who fit this profile, so I'm wondering.... Is it possible/probable that what was the Asperger's diagnosis is now the new subtype "Pathological Demand Avoidance" or PDA? (What is PDA? People with a PDA profile are driven to avoid everyday demands and expectations to an extreme extent. This demand avoidance is often (but according to some PDA adults, not always) accompanied by high levels of anxiety. - Source: www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/diagnosis/pda/parents-and-carers ) Thanks in advance!
