Hi I have a 16yr old Junior in high school son, who will not accept his diagnosis of ASD. He has no friends anymore, there’s such a huge gap with his schoolmates. He had friends when he was younger but they all moved on to girls and other teen things. He either stays in his room or in a den in our home watching you tube, playing video games or chatting online. Summers have become horrible as he used to love to swim, go to the beach or a neighbors pool. I need a program over the summer but what is available would be too traumatic for him ie: Camp Akeela in Maine, or MGH Aspire. The camp is overnight for two weeks,he’s never been away from home and there is absolutely no electronics allowed and Aspire is 5 days a week all day. I want so much for him to be happy but these programs seem like “jail” to me. I can’t find a mentor or anyone that has a special ed background that I could hire. Any ideas would be so so appreciated, I don’t sleep at night worrying about him. Wendy
