Thinking about looking into SSI. Our son is 24, lives at home, and is a part-time student at the local university. He has never had a job. My husband and I support him 100% financially. With the prices of just about everything going up, our budget is beyond tight. Is it worth it to look into SSI so that we can have our son use the funds to help contribute to the cost of groceries, pay his cell phone bill, and pay us a low amount of rent? He has money set aside in his name for his college education, so that may disqualify him right away. Also, I don't want him to have the perception that we feel he is not able to work. We both truly hope that he will be able to hold down a job in the future. However, he has about two more years of college left to go and has no idea what he wants to do when he completes his degree. Appreciate any thoughts!
